Disney On Ice 2013

So you cant tell me that youv just watched that advert and tell me your not jealous that youv missed it..... I thought not!! :p

When I was a small child I was often taking to Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena around the October time to see my favourite Disney movies been brought to life in front of my eyes on ice. The old I got as much as I still loved going my mam on the other hand thought it slightly inappropriate haha then a wonderful thing happen.... my sister had children! This meant that I could go to the show without looking a little strange without a child present so for the past three years that's exactly what I have done, taking my nephews to see that magic that I seen as a child and still now as an adult.
Well what can I say about this show, from start to finish it was absolutely amazing from the staging, costumes, props, dancing, music everything is how you would expect they would be from a Disney production, it was unfaultable!!

There were four stories within the show the were, Cinderella, Tangled, snow White and The princess and the frog and there were also Mickey Mouse and friends in between the mini shows to help move them along from one story to another and get the crowd ready and excited.

Ok, so although I was at the show to take my nephews for a nice afternoon treat out annnnd there for my own child mind I also get something out of it, something extra with always excites, inspires and motivate me to keep going, keep studying and dream big!!! It is clear the amount of time and effort that going into each show must be immense! All of the costumes are exquisite, it has the effect that it can have every little girl to her mam and grandma's wanting to be a princess for just one day, to wear 'the dress'. Each part has been thought out thoroughly to make sure it creates the right shape and silhouette with can change in an instant when the dancer spins around creating a whole new look and quick easy detachable part to came off the skirts for practicalities while dancing or doing certain stunts. The also seem to have a modern twist on the classic style again with the dancers in mind to maintain the elegant ball gown to the moveable and diverse dancers dress. All of these small elements put together so carefully to create the Disney dream for everyone to witness and be apart of. Another thing that will have been greatly considered while in the design process will have been about all of the embellishments and other special features to the garments as they will preform all over the world in different types of venues even the smallest person in the back row want to see how spectacular each dress is!

And as for the props, there were just as amazing and spectacular as the costumes. They were extravagant, and of course there had to be Cinderella's carriage which im sure took everyone's breath away when you seen it magically turn from a pumpkin and ride around the ice rink! There was also the very talented horse who skated beautifully around the ice rink gracefully.

the title of the shows gives it away that the stories were to be told with dance and that's exactly what they did. The way that all of the performers and characters moved around the space was beautiful, they are clearly strong, and talented people. The way that they would do their stunts, and spins and twirls made it look oh so effortless again building up this magic that is Disney. I especially loved how elements of costume then turned into a prop then into a tool to help Rapunzel fly over the audience again so much has been thought through so carefully but brings together an amazing productions that had everyone gasping, oooh'ing, clearing and clapping for their favourite characters.
As you could expect the staging for the stories were not a main feature and was at the back of the 'stage area' (ice rink) obviously so that the dancers had space to move around freely but it was clear by the set in the back where each part of the story was taking place and whos story more importantly it was!! Each was unique to each princess, her own castle or palace or even tower!

I hope that you have enjoyed reading my blog as much as I did seeing it!! Please feel free to leave any comments or if you did have the pleasure of going to see it what was your favourite part? Looking forward to hearing peoples responses :)

As im sure you will be able to tell these images are not my own, unfortunately with the lights and mixed with the quality of my camera I felt the images did not do it half the justice which it deserved so I have taken these professionally taking photos from the Disney on ice website (link below)
