Alice In wonderland project
Well that's it, the summer has came and went and its now time to get back stuck into some work and back to uni. Before the summer started I graduated from Newcastle college with a Distinction on the Foundation Degree Fashion course, I did enjoy myself there and learnt a lot along the way but now it was time for me to move on and start something new. I have gotten onto the BA Production design of stage and screen course straight into second year and so far I am enjoying it.

Dreamboats and petticoats
It was a last minute ticket buy but one of the best shows iv seen yet. My mam and I went to see the musical dreamboats and petticoats and had an amazing night!! As we are both lovers of the theatre the whole night was a treat but for me it was soo much more. It was the easiest and fun research iv done in a little while.

Little black dress, little black cat
While at Newcastle college I was given the project brief of little black dress, although I had looked at this topic while doing my foundation diploma a year or two prior I was still excited to have another crack at it. As I already knew a basic history on this field I felt that It would be an exciting challenge to come up with some new innovation ideas to take the idea of the LBD into a whole different level.

Edith Head
For my Final Major Project I was looking into costume design from around the 1930s-1950’s and of course came across ‘Edith Head’ and decided to get this book to find out more about her. The book is called ‘Edith Heads Hollywood’ and it was written by herself and Paddy Caustro.

Paris
For the first time in February of 2013 I visited Paris withthe rest of my peers on the FdA fashion course. The place as a whole wasextremely inspiring and it is always exciting to visit new countries andcities. Of course there was a lot to take in and unfortunately we did not havetime to go around and see everything that I perhaps would have liked to. Butwhat we did see was beautiful and it is easy to see how many great fashioncollections could come from just one visit to the city.
It was agreat experience been able to visit this event as not many other students wouldever have the chance or opportunity too. It was wonderful getting an insightinto something that we could possibly be returning to again in our professionallives and careers. This could be the same with Paris its self as well as manyof us could be returning to the city for work or just an inspirational trip totake in the sights and cultural atmosphere. My only disappointment with Paris was that there was soo much that wewanted to see and do in not so much time so if I ever have the chance to returnI would like to visit all the attractions again and spend more time in each andalso would like to have the chance to have a proper look around the shops andlittle boutiques that we missed out on this time.

Dress the stars
While driving to work I noticed signs on the edge of the road for a new exhibition that was on at a local museum. The exhibition was called 'dressing the stars' and it was/ is to be shown at woodhorn museum in Northumberland until the summer. So obviously I was interested to find out what this was about I headed straight onto the Internet to find out more about it, opening times ect as it is a mining museum which i have visited many times it was exciting to see something new, glamorous and very different there, i did not want to miss seeing anything.
After reading up about it and deciding when to go I was like a child getting all excited to be able to see costumes from world famous films up close. What made it especially fascinating was the fact that all the films where British which meant that the styles of costume was too and designed by British designers (which is becoming a huge thing at the minute, for this to be celebrated as people are becoming more crazy for BRITAIN!!!, British design and manufacturing). Some of the films included where ; The Duchess, Sense and Sensibility, Pirates of the Caribbean, Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love, and The King’s Speech.
So what started as a simple idea to entertain myself and my nephews while off school turned into such an inspirational day!! All of the costumes where displayed beautifully around the room each grouped with other costumes from that film or films that were similar. Each display also included photographs from world famous actors and actresses in the costumes in the films. At some points I felt even star stuck just been so close to theses beautiful creations let alone the fact that such fabulous people had been in them!! As well as the imagery there were also plaques next to the costumes one about the film itself, one about the costume designer, there were also idea/imagery board which showed the prowess that the designer would have gone through before coming up with the end result.
The exhibition as a whole for me was fantastic to see so much in such a small area was amazing I was completely inspired and could have spent the whole day looking at and analysing each costume and accessory, they were all beautiful and you could tell the type of craftsmanship, time and effort that went into each piece, it was amazing. Defiantly a must see.
Below are some of the photos that I took while I was there, I have only included a few but can upload some at a later late if people would like to see more.

Shoot photos
After patiently waiting I got my photos back from the shoot for my denim project. I am extremely pleased with how they have turned out and they make a great double page spread in my portfolio for university interviews.
Everything seemed to look right even down to the point of having my model bare foot I think that the theme and the feeling comes through fantastic and I was even really impressed with the finished make up. It's really funny to see a final something after days of planning and finding other images for inspiration of the type of thing that I wanted and what I wanted certain things to look at.
So anyway here are just a few photos from the shoot give me a comment and let me know you think :)
And onto the next projects........

Denim photo shoot
Today was very exciting as I worked with a photographer, make up artist and model to help bring me denim jumpsuit to life.
Using the 60s as inspiration we decided together on a hair style and make up theme. I was extremely pleased with how the afternoon went and can not wait to see the finished pictures.....
